Hi everyone! YA Sci-Fi & Fantasy Addicts is so excited to be a a part of the book tour for Revenge by Dani Hoots. Thanks to Xpresso Book Tours for hosting and Dani for answering all of our questions. In this interview, we talk everything from NA fantasy to lesser known details about her new book :)
Blurb for Revenge
It has been three years since Elvira “Ellie” Ryder was betrayed by her best friend Cor and watched as her hometown of Kaus was leveled by invaders from a different Zone. Now sworn to seek revenge on him, Ellie has teamed up with her old friend Zach to find their long lost friend.
After getting offered a bounty hunting job—really an assassination job—they find out that part of their payment is the whereabouts of Cor. Without hesitation Ellie and Zach take the job and make their way to the Human Zone to assassinate their target. As they make their way through the desert, and through the Human Zone, they are up against the prejudice of their kind—Kausian, a race that can shapeshift but always stand out with their golden eyes. Nevertheless, they never miss a mark—that is, unless they find out the truth about who destroyed their kind and how their target is right in the middle of it all.
Will Ellie be able to forgive Cor after learning the truth? Or will she forever hold on to that hatred?
Interview with Dani Hoots
What do you think about the current state and future of the new adult genre? Where would you like to see it go?
I think it is lacking in the traditional publishing sphere and a lot more prominent in the indie sphere. From what I know, there is definitely a market for college-aged characters who are discovering the world outside of high school. I hope it will grow and be its own section at the bookstore soon.
Who is this book for?
REVENGE is a book for readers looking for LGBT rep, lovers to enemies to maybe lovers/close friends again, found family, fans of FIREFLY and GUNSLINGER GIRL, and anyone wanting to start reading sci-fi since it is definitely light compared to other types of scifi.
Which character in Revenge is your favorite? C'mon, we know you have one! (We won't tell the others.)
My favorite is Cor because he is very morally gray (although all of them are), and he will grow a lot in the series. I like him a lot.
Who was the last fictional character to make you swoon? (Bonus points if it's from a YA/NA book since our blog is YA SFF focused.)
Thomas from STALKING JACK THE RIPPER SERIES
Out of all of your books, which are you the most proud of and why?
REVENGE because I am happy with how it turned out and I have come a long way in my writing career.
What would be the best thing about living in a swashbuckling space western like Revenge?
All the adventures one could have!
Will there be a sequel, or is Revenge a standalone?
There will be five books in the series and as long as all goes well, the rest will be out in 2022.
We saw your character art on Instagram! It's so unique. Who designed it?
The cover art is by Mona Finden and the character stickers are by Grgikau.
